July 4, 2026. Saturday.

Declare? Independence.

On to? Freedom.

Happy 4th of July, America!

250 years ago, a select group of men* sat down to proofread a document that would declare independence for the 13 colonies from governing Britain. This letter, of sorts, was a declaration of wants and a list of reasons why.

I have the idea that when Thomas Jefferson penned the words that needed to be said, he knew his audience. Before his document of grievances was sent to the King of England, he allowed his colleagues to proofread it. This document would knowingly change their world

in one way or another. He sought support for this heavy task. He received it.

Every word in the Declaration of Independence (from Britain) was carefully, thoughtfully, and mindfully chosen to represent the ideals of the message they wanted sent. In my opinion, we all need to be thoughtful, mindful, and careful of the words we choose when there's a message we're trying to get across. Remember: there is a power in the words we speak and they can imprint on the minds and hearts to whomever we are speaking to.

***1st?Declare. (then? Constitute. September 17,1778)

**It changed the world.

*And, so can we.

*For Mankind = Humans. (ie Man, Woman, ALL of us.) But...interpretation can go one of two ways--what was said and what was heard. Choose your words and use your words, wisely. And always, know your audience.
