Time's up.

"Time is a thief."

For a long moment in history, 'what time is it?' was determined by sun up, sun down, or sun straight overhead. Simple. 'Three sleeps' and then we leave, arrive, etc., people say in reference to counting the days. Sundials were often used to define the sun's position in regards to what time of day it was--if you had one and knew how to read it. Historical artifacts of the ancient Egyptians prove that most had mastered this skill. It was the creation of the United States Railroad System that determined the need for time zones in America. And now, present day, most of us are running to beat the clock, so to speak. Set your alarm, set a timer, run, run, run. Stop.

I remember as a teenager never being able to figure out why an aged person (CT) I knew started his day before the sun came up, when he could have slept in for as long as he wanted. I asked him and he replied that he wanted to make sure he used every moment he 'has left' to the fullest. My still-developing teenager brain couldn't quite comprehend the wisdom of his words, but I knew there was something to it. I took note.

Now that I myself am of a certain age, I do understand what he was telling me. From the moment we are born, we start to die (sounds morbid, but it's true!). We are given life for a reason, a season, and a purpose and we must make each moment count, in my opinion. There is no guarantee of tomorrow, so make the most of each day! Live in the moment--whatever and however you choose. Please choose wisely.
